Images of Ideas Wall-E set appear in the wild

Someone at UK’s SmythToys screwed up big, and posted the box art and pictures for the upcoming Ideas Wall-E set, and it didn’t get past some eagle-eyed sites like Brickfanatics. Above is the original that MacLane posted, which is just gorgeous in its own right. Below the fold, you can check out what is presumably the final model…

Looks like the biggest changes are the stickers, some minor points on the control panel, a different tile pattern thanks to the addition of the L-tiles, and more detail around the eyes. Also looks like there’s a new fender-style brick used for the eye detail. Looks like a lot of that is actually like his revised version that was submitted, so a bit more unsure if that’s the final final or just someone pulling that. Seems unlikely that it’s just a redecorated version of the revised thing, since it looks a whole lot like the style of Shop@Home pictures.

I’m not certain that the look of the darker yellow is actually there or more just an artifact of it being that glossy render look that they use for promo pictures. If it is a different yellow, the value of this set likely jumped a ton.

According to Smyth’s, it’s arriving around December, but that could easily be a place-holder value. I’d expect it sometime before Christmas, and the kind of set you’re going to want to pre-order right away. Allow me to sum up my feelings on this particular set like this…
