This has been a quiet year for the site… for some documented reasons for some that will probably be documented later on in this whole thing. But we’ve all been looking forward to doing the Advents, our yearly tradition that still happens to be a thing despite the fact that the internet is dead and it’s just bots talking to bots now. Beep boop.
Originally, we were going to mix it up this year but… things didn’t work out. Scalpers went hard in Dallas and the Star Wars Advent disappeared within a few days and never came back in stock, so Nick’s plan to do the Star Wars calendar fell through. We’re going to go with it just being the universe punishing him by making him do the Marvel Advent yet again. Something that just might finish him off this time.
We’re also going to do the newer tradition of going with non-LEGO calendars, because Advents are the new socks are the new ugly sweaters are the new yearly ornaments. Okay, that joke got away, but the point is that everything has an advent now.
Even Rocks.
That’s a hint, LEGO… bring back Rock Raiders. The world needs them now more than ever.
The scores so far:
- Star Wars: 4 Hits / 1 Misses
- Disney: 4 Hits / 1 Miss
- Marvel: 1 Hit / 4 Misses
Ace: Star Wars Day 6
A Y-Wing! This actually works really well. At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like the yellow jumper plate there but it does give the cockpit area the bulk it needs. The silver stud for the droid was a nice touch. Can’t do much about the nacelles at this scale so this is as good as it gets. Thumbs way up!
A quarter of the way through the calendar and the score for LEGO Star Wars is pretty stellar. Let’s hope it stays that way.
The Disney’s advent first real trash day. A tophat, which, based on the diagram on the inside of the door, is NOT placed Pua’s head, Pua, and a wrapped gift. I almost want to say these are game tokens. Maybe you place the princesses and vignettes around the board and collect them as you traverse around while trying to get to the end? I don’t know. That’s another wrapped gift though, similar to the ones we’ve already gotten so maybe the wrapped gifts are the game tokens? What day is that rule book coming?
Eric: Disney Day 6 (and Hot Sauces)
I am doing the LEGO Disney Advent Calendar this year. I am not in the target demographic for this advent calendar, and that is okay. I am also eating a hot wing every day, tossed in one of 24 random hot sauces. Enjoy my pain.
WATCH ME EAT AND BUILD THIS ON TIKTOK
Now this is a good build. It’s that pig from Moana, with a little top hat and a littler present. I saw Moana once time about seven years ago, and I do not remember the pig wearing a hat, but I am willing to roll with it because it’s just so dang cute.
The hot sauce – HABANERO GREEN HOT SAUCE – was not so cute. Better than yesterday’s sauce for sure, but still a far cry from the heat that I so desperately crave.
Is this my punishment? To forever taste subpar hot sauce? Is this my karma for drinking tea last year instead of sticking with hot sauces? Was it my hubris? When will I at last feel the heat?
LEGO Day 6: 5/5
HOT SAUCE Day 6: 2/5
Nick: Marvel Day 6 (and Rocks and Dice)
You know, I love me a good hot dog. Honestly, the sketchier the place looks, the better. That this was serving Venom means that it probably some absolutely stellar ground tube meat. It just has nothing to do with the holidays. And honestly isn’t all that great of a build compared to plenty of other similar little stands. Back to the missing!
Another rock that I don’t recognize and doesn’t really look like anything in the guide. Maybe Ulkinite, but not the right color. Honestly looks like an absurdly ugly granite countertop that you’d find at Home Depot.
So, I got three dice with the calendar today, but I have some serious questions about the usefulness of two of them. But hey, they’re guaranteed to always roll right at the average for a 2d6.
