Last week saw a couple of video game announcements that kind of got put on the backburner during the lead up to Toy Fair so I’m going to rectify that. Team Cherry, the three-man team behind the incredible Hollow Knight indie game, announced last week that the planned, paid DLC for Hollow Knight, where you can play as a secondary character, Hornet, is no more. Instead, it has been expanded to be a full standalone game, Hollow Knight: Silksong. No word on release date or price yet.
They’ll probably do something preposterous and only charge $15 for it like the first game or some other ridiculous amount. The games are worth at least twice that. At least.
I was looking forward to playing as Hornet, but am even more excited to play Silksong. From the sounds of it, it’s not just the same game with a different skin. New abilities, new worlds, new monsters, new story! Everything is shiny and new. And given what they’ve been able to do with the original Hollow Knight game, I have no doubt that Silksong will be just as good if not better.
If you’re a fan, you should check out the developer video the team put out:
I still can’t believe only three guys made this game.
